Oleuropein is a type of phenolic bitter compound found in green olives, olive leaves, and argan oil.[1]

Healing Properties

  • Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory: Oleuropein is one of the key polyphenolic compounds in olive oil that acts by scavenging reactive oxygen species, manipulating inflammatory pathways, and enhancing lipid and glucose metabolism.[2]
  • Metabolic & Cardiovascular Health: It is linked to protection against oxidative stress, metabolic dysfunction, obesity, insulin resistance, diabetes, and cardiovascular disorders.[2:1]

Disease / Symptom Treatment

  • Rheumatoid arthritis:

Emerging Health Benefits

Oleuropein has been shown to scavenge reactive oxygen species, manipulate inflammatory pathways, and enhance lipid and glucose metabolism, reducing oxidative stress and cardiovascular disease risks (Ghazali 2026).
