Antiprotozoal agents are used in the treatment of protozoan infections. Protozoans have little in common with each other so agents effective against one pathogen may not be effective against another. Common protozoal infections include amebiasis, giardiasis, cryptosporidiosis, microsporidiosis, malaria, babesiosis, trypanosomiasis, Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, and toxoplasmosis.
